Richard Dryden joined Darlington as Mark Cooper's assistant in June 2010.
Dryden was appointed assistant manager of Tamworth, when Mark Cooper took charge of the club in April 2004, and he left when Cooper did in January 2007.
In December 2007, he became manager of Conference North club Worcester City, leaving that post in January this year.
A very experienced defender, Dryden started his career in 1986 as a trainee with Bristol Rovers, joining them as a professional in July 1987.
He then joined Exeter City in March 1989 after a brief loan spell with the club, where he first played under manager Terry Cooper and later helped them to the 1989-90 fourth division title.
Notts County was the next stop before moving on to Birmingham for £165,000 in March 1993, where he was re-united with Terry Cooper.
Dryden then joined Bristol City for two seasons before signing for Southampton for £150,000 in August 1996, making his Premier League debut at home to Chelsea.
After loan spells with Stoke, Northampton and Swindon, Dryden left the Saints for Luton before joining Scarborough in July 2002.
After a brief spell with Worksop he joined Tamworth where he ended his playing days and began his coaching career under Mark Cooper.
