Darlington deservedly won their fourth away game out of their last six as they ended their away programme with a deserved win at Moss Rose.
Skipper Ian Miller and teenage striker Michael Smith were the goalscorers, as Quakers clinched their fifth away win of the season.
Skipper Miller played through the pain barrier with a hernia, while Smith gained just reward for all his hard work playing up front on his own in the last two matches.
Darlington manager Simon Davey made four changes to Tuesday's team, but they still settled much better than their opponents and could have been four up aftere 25 minutes.
Darlo took the lead after 9 minutes. Quakers won a free kick on the right side of the Macc penalty area, and Mark Convery crossed perfectly into the box for skipper Ian Miller to haed into the roof of the net, his first goal of the season.
Quakers could have put the game out of sight as they exposed Macc several times in the next few minutes.
John McReady set up lone striker Michael Smith, but keeper Jon Brain went full length to deny him, and then Smith got away gain in the inmside right position, but dragged his shot across the face of goal.
McReady, who seemed to be everywhere, was put through by Gary Dempsey, and as the keeper came out, he put too much power on his lob and the ball went over the bar,
And McReady was unlucky again a few minutes later when he broke through 1 on 1 against Brain, but this time instead of trying to lift the ball over the keeper he tried a low effort, but the keeper blocked.
Macclesfield tested the Darlo defence as they came more into the game. Izak Reid burst through two tackles and from an acute angle he fired straight at Liversedge, then sub Colin Daniel, who came on for Vinny Mukendi, broke away down the left and crossed for Matthew Tipton, whose left foot effort was saved on the line by Liversedge.
And Darlo breathed a sigh of relief just on the half time whistle, when Tipton found space on the right and crossed to the far post, where Emile Sinclair, unmarked just a few yards out, managed to head over the bar.
Quakers started the second half better than Macclesfield again, and they had a great chance to increase their lead. Sub Nathan Mulligan, on for Chris Moore, was shoved in the back as he went for a lay off from Alan White, and referee Pat Miller pointed to the spot.
Mark Convery was handed the responsibility, but Brain got to down to his left to push the spot kick away - Quakers' third penalty miss this season.
Encouraged by the miss, Macc responded with a right foot shot by Sean Hessey that flew just wide of Liversedge's post, then the keeper did well to block Emile Sinclair after Alan White had missed a through ball.
But Quakers deservedly gained some breathing space on 78 minutes. Michael Smith played the ball out to the right to Mark Convery, who measured his cross perfectly for the 18 year old to head across Brain into the net.
There was a late scare for Quakers when Sinclair scraped the post with an effort from ten yards, but there was no denying that Darlo were worthy winners.
