Reserves defeated by York City
Darlington's reserves fell to a 2-1 defeat this afternoon against York City. Quakers took the lead but City battled back with two second half goals to win the game.
Darlington handed starts to David Stockdale, Patrick Collins, Kalu Ngoma, Brian Close and Simon Johnson.
York had a number of early half chances before Johnson put the hosts in front with a header from a corner kick. Minutes later Collins shot across the face of goal from the right by-line as Darlington looked for a second.
Richard Brodie pulled City level early in the second half when he neatly chipped Stockdale. Darlington should have retaken the lead when a Johnson freekick was adjudged to have been handled but the goalscorer's spot kick was well saved by Paddy Gamble.
Quakers were punished for their miss by the Minstermen when a freekick from the right was not dealt with and the ball poked home from close range by substitute Alex Rhodes.
