MCBRIDE AND BARRUA DEPART
Kevin McBride has departed Darlington and signed an eighteen month deal with Scotish Premiership side Falkirk. The former Celtic and Motherwell player joined Quakers during the summer however despite scoring during his debut in the 2-0 home win over Wrexham he has found a first team place hard to come by.
Falkirk manager John Hughes said: "I knew about Kevin from my days at Celtic and always admired the way he played his football. I tried to sign him during our first season in the SPL but he slipped through the net so you could say I'm delighted to have finally got my man."
Hughes went on: "He's a good age for us with his best years still ahead of him. He's got a great attitude and he's the kind of player who will fit in well here. He's a great passer of the ball and plays the game in the correct manner. Exactly the kind of footballer I want at Falkirk."
Meanwhile the club can also confirm that winger Xavier Barrua has also departed the Balfour Webnet Darlington Arena. Barrau joined Darlington on a short term deal in August 2007. He formerly played for Bradford City and Walsall in England, Lyon and ES Viry-Châtillon in France, FC Meyrin in Switzerland and Airdrie United FC in Scotland. He made his Darlington debut against Peterborough during the 2007/08 season but was sent off for two bookable offences.
