"Injuries cost us" says Dave Penney
Dave Penney has promised that his Darlington side will bounce back from the heartache of their Play-Off semi-final defeat at the hands of Rochdale at Spotland on Saturday.
He said "We will try again next season and will surely have more luck.
"We are so disappointed to miss out on Wembley but any team that has ten or 11 players out injured is going to struggle.
"It's life and you deal with it. I've won on penalties when at Doncaster and now it is the opposite emotion.
"We wanted a day out at Wembley and we wanted promotion but the injuries have cost us.
"I didn't feel Dale should have had a free kick for their first goal but they are a decent side.
"We have to look back on what has been a good, though difficult season, and we couldn't quite finish it off."
Of Kennedy, who missed his penalty in the shoot out, the only player to suffer that cruel fate, Penney said
"He scored a great goal in the first leg and now he is feeling the other extreme. He is down but will bounce back."
Rochdale now meet Stockport County in what will be an all north-west Play-Off Final at Wembley on Bank Holiday Monday 26 May.
