Dave Penney returns to work on Monday morning having to pick up the pieces following Saturday's Coca-Cola Football League 2 Play-Off semi-final defeat at Rochdale still ruing the save by the home keeper Tommy Lee which denied the Quakers a day at Wembley with the prize of a place in League 1 awaiting the winners.

"They were all decent penalties I suppose. Nobody blazed it over which you see now and again, but it's a cruel way to lose a football match.

"We're bitterly disappointed because we wanted a day out at Wembley. You see those scenes at the end and that makes it even worse because we wanted to be the ones jumping up and down.

"We've had a good season but there can be a fine line between success and failure.

"These things can go either way, at Doncaster we won a penalty shoot-out against Chester.

"If we'd scored all our penalties and they had missed one then we would be at Wembley. They weren't any better than us, but scored more penalties.

"We lost here in the league 3-1 and deserved to get beat too, but this time we didn't deserve to lose.

"The players will be down now and disappointed that they won't be making a trip to Wembley, but they can be proud of themselves.

"It's disappointing for the players and the supporters.

"The fans were fantastic and if we could have that kind of backing every week at home that would be great, that's the kind of backing you need.'
