Dave Penney has said that there may be players leaving, and others arriving at the Darlington Arena, before the season starts.

"We are looking to bring more players in and it's possible that others might leave," said Penney while talking to the Evening Gazette.

"We may want to bring in another keeper, a central midfielder and possibly cover in wide areas."

With Tommy Wright being link with a move to play in Scotland, Penney is not encouraging bids for him, but accepts that if they are realistic offers his hand might be forced. But if Wright goes, Penney could add another striker to his wanted list.

Quakers have handed another chance to young striker Sean Reay, though he is not in the manager's short term plans.

The 19-year-old, plagued by hamstring trouble during his development, has agreed a one-year deal, and will go out on loan for the season.

"There is a good player in there, but he needs to play regularly against men and work on the physical side of his game," said Penney.

"He'll go out on loan so that he has the chance to mature physically."

Gregg Blundell has fully recovered from summer surgery, new striker Adam Proudlock will be fully fit for the start of the new season, while Pawel Abbott hopes for better luck after an injury hit first season with the club.

Penney will look at triallists - at least one striker is already training with them - possibly including them in pre-season games, the first of which is at Norton & Stockton Anceints next Saturday, when the Northern League club will open their new 160-seat stand.
