Steve Foster is looking forward to a new start at Darlington following a difficult few months.
The Quakers captain, who has been given the skipper's armband by new boss Colin Todd, admits it's been an arduous and uncertain summer.
Foster was one of just two senior pros, along with fellow centre-back Ian Miller, to stay at the club during pre-season, with a view to officially signing when the administration process has been concluded.
Now he's hoping he and the club can look forward to renewed hope once the club comes out of administration and the takeover issue has been resolved.
"It's been a difficult time," admitted Foster. "You look to get away during the summer and enjoy the few weeks that you get off, but that hasn't been the case this year.
"Everything seems to be getting sorted out now, though, and hopefully the club can look forward to a brighter and better future.
"There's only three pros left along with four young lads, but the new gaffer has come in and he's brought Dean (Windass) in with nine other new signings, so it's all change.
"Now we just need the off-field issues resolving and we'll be able to build for the future and start preparing properly for the new season ahead."
