Fans can now buy tickets on the gate at Thursday night's big pre-season friendly against Sunderland at the Northern Echo Arena.
But the club is still advising supporters of both clubs to buy their tickets in advance and to arrive early on the evening of the game to avoid any lengthy queues and delays.
Certain restrictions imposed on Quakers by the Safety Advisory Group meant the club could not sell tickets on the gate, which has now been lifted for both sets of fans.
A Darlington spokesman said: "We appreciate a lot of supporters like to walk up to the stadium on the day of the game and buy their tickets on the gate, although we also appreciate why the restrictions were imposed in the first place.
"I'm sure there'll be a lot of fans who will buy tickets on the night, but those who remember the Sunderland friendly here a couple of seasons ago will recall the tremendous problems we had on the evening, with a massive walk-up causing traffic problems and queues which resulted in a lot of people missing the start of the match, and that's the last thing we want on Thursday night.
"Therefore we'd strongly recommend both Darlington and Sunderland fans to buy tickets in advance if at all possible, but if you're planning to buy them on the night please give yourself plenty of time."
Darlington's ticket office has been busy processing tickets for their two big pre-season friendlies this week, with the Sunderland game, which kicks off at 7.30pm on Thursday night, quickly followed by the visit of Newcastle United on Saturday, 12.30pm kick-off, with tickets for both games priced £10 adults and £5 juniors.
The sale of tickets for the Newcastle game will be reviewed by the Safety Advisory Group tomorrow (Wednesday).
Darlington fans can buy tickets for the games from the club's main ticket office at the Arena, or by calling 0871 855 1883, while Sunderland fans can buy their tickets by calling 0871 911 1973, or at www.safc.com, and Newcastle fans can buy their tickets by calling 0844 372 1892, or at www.nufc.co.uk.
