OUT OF ADMIN

Posted on: Fri 07 Aug 2009

We're out of administration, and the new regime has no intention of ever again enduring a summer like the one they have just had.

But while the club will be run on a tighter, more realistic footing under new owner Raj Singh, there is no lack of ambition at The Northern Echo Arena.

For while Managing Director Graham Fordy has assured supporters that their new look club is determined to avoid the mistakes of past regimes, he also wants to see success on and off the pitch.

After working tirelessly with the new chairman to successfully bring the club out of administration, by satisfying the demands of the Football League, he said: "We haven't planned or budgeted for any income that we can't guarantee. We want to keep the club on a sound financial footing.

"Previous regimes have allowed overspend on budgets to try and achieve success. We have looked at the problems that arose before. And you will have problems in any business if you spend more than you are earning, unless you can bridge that gap. Some previous regimes couldn't do that.

"We won't make false promises, We have to show that we are honest, up-front and stand by what we say."

"We have a fantastic opportunity to take the club forward. It's a big relief to come out of administration, and now we will be judged by results on the pitch. That is how it should be."

Graham added that the Football League were helpful throughout the club's time in administration, and while he would have liked the release from administration to have been achieved more quickly, it had been an ambition to be free of it before the first game, which has been achieved.

He added: "We also owe a huge debt to the staff who have stuck it through since the club we went into administration in February. People like Christine, Roli and Lisa. They have worked under tremendous strain not knowing what would happen to the club. They have shown terrific commitment through dark days."

And he expressed his thanks to other staff, including those who were forced to leave but have since come back, as well as new staff. And while the hard work continues behind the scenes, the focus is now on Monday's Carling Cup tie at home to Leeds United in front of the live Sky tv cameras.

He said: "We hope the fans turn up in numbers for the first home game
under the new set up. It's a very attractive game on Monday, but we know that we have to earn the trust of fans."
