Follow the action from the Carling Cup first round tie between Darlington and Leeds United.

Leeds United are through the second round. Darlington made a good fist of it and can be pleased with their efforts. Leeds though clicked up a few gears shortly after the break and grabbed the all important goal.

90mins (+1): Darlington win a late corner which Bower heads wide. Good chance for an equaliser.

90mins: The fourth official shows a minimum of four minutes of added time. Final Leeds change. Snodgrass off in place of Andy Robinson.

83mins: Howson smashes a shot a wide of the mark as Thorpe is announced as the man of the match. At the other end Windass cuts in side and shoots low towards goal. Higgs saves easily.

82mins: Windass wins a free kick well outside the area after getting tangled up with a Leeds player. He strikes it well over the bar and into the West stand. The impressive Grella makes way for Leeds. Neil Kilkenny comes on in his place.

78mins: Final change for Darlington. Curtis Main comes on in place of Thorpe.

76mins: Darlington show some decent build up play around the Leeds area which ends in Mark Bower sending a low well wide of the target.

74mins: Higgs makes a bit of a mess when taking care of a back-pass. He manages to get away it as Darlington make their second change of the night. Skipper Steve Foster is replaced by Matt Plummer.

72min: Leeds make their first change of the evening. Luciano Becchio comes on for Showunmi.

64mins: Leeds should be two ahead now. Grella find Howson does the right who plays a good pass into the feet of Showunmi. Despite being totally unmarked he somehow scuffs his shot horribly wide. The Leeds number twenty-one drops to his feet, it really is a bad miss.

60mins: Darlington have the ball in the back of the net. Windass passes to Thorpe who puts Dowson through and he lofts the ball over Higgs. The assistant referee's flag goes up.

58mins: Darlington make their first change. Windass is on in place of Jeff Smith.

53mins: GOAL. Leeds are ahead here. Showunmi with a close range header from Robert Snodgrass' cross. A bit of a soft goal but Leeds probably deserve it after an excellent start to the second half.

50mins: Grella involved again soon afterwards. He does some fancy step overs and brilliantly to Bradley Johnson in space who smacks the crossbar with a rising shot. Darlington hang on as Howson is next to have a go. Knight gets down well and hangs on.

49mins. Mike Grella flicks the ball up and sends a shot wide.

45mins: The second has kicked off and Howson has dragged a low shot well wide.

45mins: Despite a late free kick from Leeds in a dangerous position which nearly catches Quakers out the home side can be pleased with their first half efforts. Leeds really try to turn the screw at the end of the first period as they force a corner kick. Deep into stoppage time Hughes fires a shot over the bar as the first half draws to a close.

41mins: Thorpe trips Jonathen Howson the Leeds skipper. Thorpe quickly acknowledges the foul and the play resumes with a free kick.

34mins: Thorpe gets clear of the Leeds defence. He tries to pull the ball back for Chandler. His shot is blocked by Jason Crowe. Really good opening and it has got the home fans going.

32mins: Chris Lumsdon's free kick is headed off target by Lee Thorpe.

27mins: A corner kick for Leeds United is cleared by Ian Miller. The ball falls for Michael Doyle who hits a fierce shot goalwards from just outside the area. The shot really has power and despite coming through a few bodies Knight manages to block it. The ball is scrambled clear by Darlington.

21mins: Andy Hughes crosses the ball over from the left for Leeds but it too deep and ends up going over the bar.

16min: A nice move sees Chandler hold the ball up down the right before playing it back to Arnison. His cross however is too close to Higgs.

14mins: Darlington win a free kick down the right after a foul on Paul Arnison. Jeff Smith sends it over and and Shane Higgs catches.

10min: Quakers being put under some pressure from Leeds but they are defending stoutly.

4mins: Leeds United fans are in good voice.

3min: Dowson takes an early tumble in the box and might have had a good shout for a penalty kick.

1min: We're under way here. Enoch Showunmi has an early shot which is straight at David Knight. Routine stop for the Darlo number one.

7.42pm: Darlington have given David Dowson his first start. The forward who is on loan from Sunderland scored at the weekend and was a real bright spark in the opening league fixture. Jamie Chandler, also on loan from the Black Cats, starts as well. Elsewhere Dean Windass is on the bench.
