SUPPORT QUAKERS' KIDS AT THE ARENA

Posted on: Thu 10 Sep 2009

Darlington are in action tomorrow night at Accrington Stanley. However for those unable to attend you can still get your football fix. Quakers' youth team entertains Burton Albion at the Northern Echo Arena (Kick-off 12.00) and admission is free.

Former Darlington skipper Craig Liddle is in charge of the youngsters along with Neil Maddison. The pair will be hoping that supporters can come down and support the lads. It is also the chance to make a decent impression on first team boss Colin Todd.

"It will give the lads a lift to play at The Arena, and we hope the public will turn up to back us. We have players who I'm sure will impress the fans," Liddle told the Evening Gazette. "Our ground at Durham is open and can be windswept, so this is a chance for the players to show what they are capable of in the conditions that first team players enjoy."

"I was going to suggest that the youth team boys were given the chance to play at The Arena, but first team manager Colin Todd beat me to it. He came to me and said it would be a good idea for the boys to play there. He will be there to watch them play, so it is a chance for them to impress."

Liddle continued: "So far we haven't had the results we enjoyed last year, but we are playing just as well, so I'm optimistic that once we get a win the lads can go on from there. It would be nice if that was on Saturday."
