STAUNTON'S THOUGHTS ON MORECAMBE

Posted on: Wed 25 Nov 2009

Darlington manager Steve Staunton admitted that Quakers' second half performance against Morecambe was unacceptable. Quakers were level at the break but conceded four times during the second half as the Shrimps continued their good form. Speaking after the match Satunto said:

"It was a big let down. For forty-five minutes I thought we were okay. We created a couple of chances but again simple passing has let us down. Jeff Smith had a couple of chances but the second half, what can you say? It just wasn't good enough."

"It is frustrating and annoying but it is a young bunch in there. They are going to have to grow up pretty quick. The sad thing is we have such a quiet group but they need to grow up and realise where they are. We need to cut out the mistakes, I've been saying it every week. It is simple stuff but it is killing us."

"I knew it wasn't going to be easy but it is very disappointing after the performances we've had of late. Even on Saturday we created chances and could perhaps have got something. Tonight though the second half was unacceptable. We've been working hard everyday of the week. The thing is however, as I keep saying, we have to cut out the simple little mistakes. They have to take it on board and take more responsibility both as individuals and as a group."
