DARLINGTON V LINCOLN POSTPONED

Posted on: Mon 28 Dec 2009

Darlington's Coca-Cola League Two game against Lincoln City today has been postponed due to a frozen pitch.

Despite huge efforts by the club and volunteers to clear the Northern Echo playing surface of snow in the last week, it failed a pitch inspection this morning after overnight temperatures plummeted.

It's Darlington's third game in a row, and the second successive home fixture, to fall foul of the weather, after the Northampton and Rotherham matches were postponed in the last nine days.

But the Quakers would like to thank everyone again who volunteered to help the club clear the pitch in the last week.

"It's incredibly disappointing," said the club's general manager Phil Preston. "We've literally done everything we possibly can to get the game on and the help of our fans in the last week has been brilliant."

The re-arranged date for the Lincoln home game and Rotherham away fixture will be announced in due course.
