New signing Chris Moore trained with Darlington for the first time this morning - and had to put a holiday in for the privilege!
The right winger, snapped up from Northern League first division side Whitley Bay today, had to give short notice to his employer when he was offered the dream job of being a professional footballer.
Moore wasted no time in signing a contract until summer 2011 after just over two years with Bay, which included a Wembley appearance in the FA Vase Final last year.
The 26-year-old was released by Newcastle United at the age of 18 and spent a season with Bishop Auckland before joining Whitley Bay for the first time in 2004.
In the summer of 2005, Moore moved to New Jersey in the US, where he completed a degree in journalism.
He then returned to England in early 2008, signing for the Bay for a second time and taking on a health care assistant role at the Freeman Hospital in Newcastle.
He's spent the last few months working in the technical support at a call centre for Sage, a payroll software company, based in Newcastle, where he had to give his notice this week.
