Lee Clarke provides his weekly round-up of the Blue Square Bet Premier League...
Mansfield Town shot to the summit of the Blue Square Bet Premier League with two victories from two over the Bank Holiday period.
The Stags ran out 1-0 victors against a faltering Cambridge United side at Field Mill on Saturday and followed that up with a resounding 4-0 win over Altrincham at Moss Lane on Monday.
Manager David Holdsworth said: "The players are enjoying their football and are playing with real confidence. The spine is solid and we are looking really good at the moment.
"Although the season is only a few weeks old, the spine of our team looks solid and the early signs are certainly encouraging."
Another team with an impressive Bank Holiday period were Tamworth who continued their impressive early season form by picking up four points to make it only one defeat in six, and on Saturday became the first team to defeat bookies' favourites Luton Town 3-1.
Gary Mills' men followed up the impressive win over the Hatters with a 2-2 draw away to Kidderminster Harriers. It had looked as though The Lambs were going to take all three points until Jack Byrne snatched a late equaliser for The Harriers.
Southport manager Liam Watson has urged his team to build on their impressive start to the new campaign.
The club defeated local rivals Fleetwood on Saturday 1-0 to make it 10 points from the clubs first five games.
Watson said after the game: "We have to take on board what we have got so far and be very pleased with it. It is important we now go into the next five games with the same level of commitment as the first five."
One man who is now longer part of the Blue Square Bet Premier League is striker Tom Craddock, who completed a deadline day transfer to League Two outfit Oxford United.
Craddock has been a long term target for Oxford and wrapped up the formalities of his move from Luton Town on Tuesday.
Oxford boss Chris Wilder said: "He has been a consistent goal-scorer for the past two seasons and he has also been in this league and done it before. He is hungry to learn and wants to succeed; we hope he will do that here."
Kidderminster Harriers have moved to secure the services of defender Ollie Thorne from Blue Square Bet Premier rivals Newport County.
Newport agreed to the termination of the 20-year-old defender's contract to enable him to complete his move to Aggborough.
Harriers' boss Steve Burr said: "He has absolutely no hard feelings towards Newport and not being in their team due to their great start to the season.
"The boy is desperate to play football and it was ideal for him to come here. I hope he can make us stronger at the back."
And finally this week, Cambridge United defender James Jennings believes that Monday's 2-0 win proves that The U's have players all over the pitch who are capable of scoring goals.
Left-back Jennings netted the second goal and swung in the corner for centre-half Josh Coulson's opener on Monday, meaning Cambridge have now scored five goals this season with three coming from defenders.
Jennings said: "it is important for the defenders to keep on the strikers toes.
"The teams the do well will have goals coming from all over the pitch. When Danny Wright and Darryl Clare start to chip in too then we should really begin to fly."
