Joey Hutchinson to be disciplined by club
Darlington defender Joey Hutchinson will be disciplined by the club for his comments aimed at the match official following the full time whistle at the Racecourse Ground. The central defender was penalised for a supposed foul in the box during the closing stages of the game against Wrexham. Quakers went on to loose the game 1-0.
Many fans and parts of the media felt that the foul never took place anywhere near the box and Joey was clearly aggrieved over the incident however manager Dave Hodgson said his reaction was unacceptable and that he would be punished by the club. Hutchinson could now face a ban of up to three games and may well miss the FA Cup clash against Barnsley.
"He will be punished, that is not acceptable"

"He got a red card which I am very disappointed about," said Hodgson after the game. "I am disgusted with that. I don't know which game he will miss, obviously it could be the FA-Cup tie. If that is the case then so be it. He will be punished, I am not accepting that. I tried to get onto the pitch and get them away from the referee as quick as I could but obviously he has said it before I could get there. He will be punished, that is not acceptable."
The incident marred an otherwise decent performance for Hutchinson in a Darlington defence which was forced to reshuffle in the first half thanks to a head injury to David Duke. The former Swindon man, just returning from injury, was left with blood all down his face after a clash of heads. In his place Quakers bought on Stephen Thomas - a former Wrexham player and Hodgson was pleased with his contribution.
"Joey I thought did well. I thought defensively we did very well," said Hodgy. "Obviously we lost Duke early on in the game with a horrendous cut and we had to change. We put Stephen (Thomas) out there. He was back at his home ground and he was always going to be committed, there was nothing more sure than that and he did a reasonable job and in the second half he did a better job."
