Carlisle United are expecting a bumper crowd
Carlisle United are expecting one of the biggest crowds in over a decade for their clash with Quakers on Boxing Day. Carlisle supporters are reportedly snapping up tickets for the festive fixture at a staggering pace. Reports suggest that a crowd of around 12,000 fans is expected for the game.
The Cumbria based side are enjoying an excellent season so far and sit third in the league two table and completed an 11-10 penalty shoot out victory over Tranmere Rovers on Tuesday night in the LDV Trophy to reach the semi-final stage of the Northern section.
The good form, coupled with the usual bumper crowd enjoyed by Boxing Day fixtures, means Darlington's fixture could be played out in front of the biggest crowd at Brunton Park for some time. The last time Quakers journeyed to Carlisle in December 2003 there was a crowd of 8,369 but this is expected to pale compared to the game this coming Monday.
"It is looking like an absolutely bumper crowd," said Carlisle's business operations manager, George Thomson in the News & Star Sport. "It's all down to the fantastic feel good atmosphere throughout the whole club at the moment. There is a big buzz about everything at Brunton Park."
By yesterday evening more than 5,000 tickets have reportedly been sold. Darlington fans will be behind the goal in the Petteril End which has been re-opened following refurbishment work. This area of the ground is terracing only and will be priced at £12 for Adults, £7 for 11 to 15 year olds + OAPS and £3 for under 11's. It is also worth noting that this stand is open to the elements and fans should dress accordingly.
The East stand, where Darlington supporters have previously been housed, is been given up completely for the home support. The game on Monday kicks off at 1pm and fans are urged to arrive early.
