Proc backs Hutchinson in bid to return
Darlington defender Joey Hutchinson continues his rehabilitation work as he gets ready to join in the pre-season activities. Hutchinson has spent large parts of the last two seasons on the sidelines thanks to two separate cruciate injuries. The latest injury for Hutchinson came in Quakers' 1-1 draw with eventual League two champions Carlisle United at Bruton Park back on Boxing Day last year.
Whilst most of the Darlington squad are away enjoying the summer sun with family Hutchinson continues his work to get ready for the new season and can often be seen around the stadium during the week after finishing another session. Speaking on Quakers World assistant manager Mark Proctor praised Hutchinson's work ethics and is looking forward to seeing the defender back in action next season.
"Joey is great, he's very low maintenance. He's get on with his work with no fuss at all. We are hoping he'll be back in for pre-season with all the boys," said Proctor. "He'll be looking forward to it, he's had two really bad years with doing one cruciate and then the other. Hopefully it will be all behind him now. It will be fantastic to have him back and for the whole of next season hopefully without any injury problems."
With so much time out of action Hutchinson will have had plenty of time to reflect on things and having being there himself during his playing days at Sunderland Proctor knows exactly how he feels. The Darlington assistant manager however is backing the defender to come back strongly and firing on all cylinders next season.
"He is very meticulous with his rehab work. He gets on with it and I am sure it has been a frustrating time for him," said Proc. "I've been there myself, I've got the T-shirt. I had twelve months out when I was at Sunderland. It's a time to reflect and you look and see what sort of things you are missing. It's important you realise what a great profession your in. I am sure Joey will be no different, probably even more so given the two seasons he has had."
