Darlington Football Club has announced the suspension of manager David Hodgson as part of an internal inquiry to be conducted by the Chairman George Houghton.

The chairman expects to complete his inquiry within two weeks and officials of the club have been instructed to make no public comment on the matter until then.

The chairman has established his internal inquiry to consider a range of issues relating to the performance of the club and the background to open speculation concerning another football club's contact with the manager.

Neil Maddison will stand in for David Hodgson during the period of the chairman's inquiry.
