Darlington manager Dave Penney will field a strong side for the final game of the season. Quakers have nothing but pride to play for when Stockport County arrive at the Arena this weekend but any thoughts of Penney giving some of his younger players a chance to shine have been dispelled.

Stockport can still make the play-offs but need seventh place Bristol Rovers to drop points. County could make it into the end of season showdown if they win or draw but would miss out if Shrewsbury and Bristol Rovers match Stockport's result. Whilst Quakers may have nothing riding on the end of season match Penney feels it is only right to the other sides that he fields the strongest possible side.

"The onus is on us to try and win the game. It would be very easy to throw a few kids in and give them some experience but I think it is only right we play a strong side," said the Darlington boss. "If there had been nothing on the game for both sides then I might have played Kevin Burgess and Shaun Reay but with there being something on it I think it's only right we play our strongest side."

Stockport will be backed by a large following. With around 1,500 tickets sold the Greater Manchester based club are expecting a further 500 tickets to be sold on the day. Darlington though will be looking to spoil the party and record their third win in a row. Victories over Wycombe Wanderers and Notts County leave the club in far better form than their visitors who have won just once in their last ten matches.

"It's all about momentum," said Penney. "We've won our last two and if we can get a good result against Stockport on Saturday we will go above them. That would push us into around eighth place and we'd finish on a high. Supporters remember how you finish so hopefully we'll get a result and play well."

Wycombe Wanderers have already had their play-off dreams punctured by Darlington. The 3-2 win at the Arena two weeks away was enough to end the Chairboys hopes of a top seven finish. The visit of Stockport on Saturday at the very least gives Darlington another competitive fixture to play in rather than a drab end of season encounter.

"The good thing is they have something to play for. Wycombe came here with something to play for and we beat them. Stockport are in eighth and I think they really need three points. They are going to come here and try to win so it should make for an entertaining game. It's important the players give a good account of themselves and show that they can play at this level," said the Darlington boss.

Gregg Blundell may be available after injury. Penney was monitoring how the striker came through training today before naming his side. Darlington have no additional injury worries following the 1-0 win over Notts County however Martin Smith has undergone knee surgery and will not be available. Tomorrow's game kick's off at 3pm and supporters are advised to arrive in good time.
