DAGENHAM V DARLINGTON
Darlington will face Dagenham & Redbridge's unbeaten home record this coming Saturday. Quakers go into the game following two disappointing matches against Peterborough and Rochdale. Late goals again reared their ugly head to deny Dave Penney's men three points however the performances in both fixtures were below what Darlington are capable of producing.
Dagenham have made a good start to their season. The Daggers enjoyed their best win of the campaign to date last weekend when they beat Brentford 3-2. The result also means that Dagenham are also unbeaten in their last three matches. Having also taken points off Wycombe Wanderers and beaten Lincoln City Quakers are guaranteed a tough test as they journey South.
"Darlington have started well, but we haven't had too bad a start ourselves," said striker Chris Moore who scored against Brentford. "We know we've got to work hard in training on keeping this run going, but we've now got two wins in a row so let's make it three!"
Despite the recent setbacks at home to Peterborough and Rochdale Quakers have only been beat once in their opening nine games. Darlington were within a few minutes of winning both games before being pegged back at the death. Penney though points out his side are still proving difficult to beat but will be hoping his side can kick up at least a gear or two this weekend.
"It will be a hard game because Dagenham are unbeaten at home, full of confidence, and looking to steamroller teams. Most of our players have not played on their ground before, do this will be a hard game. Bit the players are level headed. They don't get too high when they win, or two down when they lose," said manager Dave Penney.
"We were not at our best in the two home games, but we still go to Dagenham with a very good record of losing just one in nine. We are still picking up points. We can't dominate every game, and other clubs have dips in form and results, just like us," pointed out Penney. "We have drawn two home games we wanted to win - but look at Shresbury. They had a good start to the season, and in the last week have lost at home to Rochdale and Peterborough. If we remain difficult to beat we will win our share of games."
The visitors will face a few injury problems going into the game. Pawel Abbott, Neil Austin, David Stockale and Ian Harty are all ruled out of the game. Abbott hurt his knee in the warm-up ahead of last Saturday's draw with Peterborough. He also missed the midweek game against Rochdale. "We thought he might be okay for Saturday but we've just had him on a bike and his knee was sore again so we're disappointed with that. We're not sure when he'll be back, but it certainly won't be this weekend," said the manager.
