Darlington head to Brentford following two positive games - one in the league and the other in the FA Cup. Quakers needed to bounce back after their surprise result at Hereford and they just that with a comfortable 2-0 home win against Shrewsbury. A good performance in the cup followed and now manager Dave Penney wants to see his resilient side return to the strong performances away from home.

"Anyone can beat anyone else in the division as we've seen. It is important we get back to being tough and resilient on our away trips. We were doing that before the Hereford game so we have to get back to doing it. It will be tough down at Brentford and we need to defend properly. At the moment though there is always a goal in us," said Penney.

"Apart from the MK Dons match we had not really been behind before that game at Hereford and hopefully we've learned how to react in those situations now. There is often plenty of time to get back into games and not just bomb forward and leaving ourselves exposed. We bounced back in the Shrewsbury game, I wouldn't say it was fantastic but the result was more important and we got back to keeping clean sheets."

Penney, who normally keeps his cards close to his chest, has already confirmed that new loan signing Richie Foran will start on the left flank. Arriving from Southend United the former Motherwell player adds plenty of experience to a position which the manager admits the club have struggled with for some time. His introduction to the side will most likely see Joe Colbeck drop down to the bench with Julian Joachim holding his place on the right wing.

"We just felt we needed someone else in," said Penney. "We have been light on the left hand side and we've struggled all season with it. Richie will come in and play on the left hand side. He is someone we know a lot about and he has plenty of experience. He also gives us the option to push him up front if we have a problem in that area. We are delighted to get him and he has more experience than the loan signings we've had of late. He will slot straight in."

Darlington are likely to leave their forward line unchanged. The manager has been pleased with the partnership between the front two and will not be tempted to push Pawel Abbott into action too soon. The forward arrived back injury for the cup game last weekend but the bench is where he will start from as Quakers look to get him match fit in time for Christmas. Out of this encounter will be defender Tim Ryan although Darlington can call upon John Brackstone or Rob Pudie to fill that gap.

Brentford meanwhile will be hoping captain John Mackie is fit to return to their line-up after he missed the cup-tie at Luton last week. The Bees will definitely be without Adrian Pettigrew, who has returned to Chelsea after a three-month loan spell, and Mackie would be the most obvious replacement. Another loanee, Lewis Emanuel, is also out, with the injury he picked up at Macclesfield, while John Mousinho is also expected to be unavailable.
