ABOUT THE SUPPORTERS' CLUB
Darlington Supporters' Club was formed in during the 1987/88 season after a suggestion by the late Archie Heaton that the Football Club needed a fans organisation. Since its inception the Supporters' Club has raised valuable funds for the Football Club as well as a service to its supporters.
Over the years, DFCSC have donated many different items to the Football Club, including grass seeds, line markers and TVs. The Supporters' Club regularly sponsor players during the season and sponsors matches when funds allow. They have always tried to work closely with the management of the Football Club in a positive way and many people have given up a great deal of their spare time to help out on match days, including the selling of 50-50 tickets and selling match day programmes.
The most obvious service the Supporters' Club provide is the running of away coaches to all of Darlington's away games. This began a few weeks after the formation of the organisation and has continued since taking fans to such far reaches of the country as Torquay and Exeter as well as the trips to Wembley in 1996 and 2000.
In October 2002 Chairman, Peter Thorns and his wife Sue decided to retire from the Supporters' Club to concentrate on new projects. For a period the Supporters' Club operated as a democratic group. In recent years however the Supporters' Club continued to enjoy success under the Chairmanship of John Hart and vice-chairman Karen Glencross. The Supporters' Club continued to enjoy much success and work closely with the management of the Football Club whenever possible.
